Participation of Renowned Quran Reciters in Programs of Najaf Plan

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Many renowned Quran reciters of the Islamic world have voiced readiness to take part in the programs of the Najaf plan, an official with the Kufa Mosque said.  Sayyid Adel Yasseri told that internationally known Egyptian Quran reciters like Farajullah Shazli, Ahmed Ahmed Noaina and Abdul Fattah Taruti are among those who are going to take part in the programs.  He said based on the “Najaf, Cultural Capital of the Islamic World in 2012” plan, various cultural, literary, and historical programs would be held and among those programs, Quranic ceremonies with the presence of Quran reciters and memorizers from different countries stand out.  He said in preparation for the year 2012 marking the city as the cultural capital of the Islamic world, a number of Quranic programs were held during the months of Sha’ban and Ramadan with the presence of reciters from Egypt, Iran and Iraq.  Mr. Yasseri noted that during the rule of former dictator Saddam Hussein, Quranic activities were disregarded, but after the fall of the dictator, Quran activists have become very active.  He also said that the Kufa Mosque plans to hold national Quranic competitions as part of the Najaf plan.  According to the official, introducing the school of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) through Quranic activities should be part of the programs marking Najaf as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2012./129
